Jason Johnson is the Vice President of Southern Nevada and a senior at East Career and Technical Academy. Originally in the Electronics program at East Tech, Jason joined DECA his sophomore year and instantly forged a passion for his marketing program and DECA chapter. His first year at state, Jason competed and placed as a finalist in both MMS and PSE. Jason’s next step involved his application and induction as East Tech’s Vice President of Careers and Development. In this position, Jason developed leadership and organization skills in leading his Chapter’s fundraisers, post-high school, and state-preparation events. In his junior year, he was elected the Vice President of Southern Nevada with aspirations to develop Nevada DECA’s post high school opportunities for its members while unifying Nevada’s chapters and spreading Nevada DECA’s name to local businesses.
Jason plays varsity baseball and varsity cross-country for his home school, Las Vegas High school. Since he is left-handed, Jason plays outfield for Vegas HS’s baseball team and will run varsity cross-country this coming season. He was the freshmen class president, representative of the sophomore class, and is currently a representative for the junior class. While also a member of National Honor Society, Jason invests himself in his community, participating in community service projects that primarily revolve around baseball.
Jason’s largest ambition is to attend one of three military academies, which he has prepared to apply for since early middle-school. Inspired by his father’s service in the Air Force Reserves, Jason hopes to be appointed to a cadet-position in the Air Force, Military, or Naval Academy to further develop his leadership skills and one day serve as a doctor, political advisor, or business professional in the military.
