Morgan Heath-Powers - State President

Humbled and honored to serve as your 2018-2019 Nevada DECA State President, Morgan Heath-Powers is excited to continue strengthening Nevada DECA from the inside out by propelling the success of members, advisors, and her fellow state officers in DECA and beyond.

As a two-term state officer and active leader in her chapter at Davidson Academy (DA) since freshman year, Morgan exudes a passion for serving and collaborating with fellow emerging leaders, both at home and across the country. Her DECA story is one that began with consistent pre-competition nerves, a fear of public speaking, and no idea of what the organization held in store for her. But it was during her sophomore year in high school that Morgan came to love the thrill that competition and networking has to offer – a shift that inspired her interest to give back to DECA all that it was giving to her.

Now, as Morgan continues to learn and grow as a person and as a leader, she finds her greatest fulfillment in serving her community, collaborating with fellow student leaders towards common goals, and advocating for Career Technical Education in the Nevada school system. Whether she’s judging role plays for classmates throughout the school week, collaborating with the state officer team on their latest project, or hosting a video call to share valuable leadership tools with Nevada DECA members across the state, Morgan loves creating exponential success for herself and for others.

When Morgan isn’t DECA-cating herself to the efforts of her chapter and state officer team, she’s an avid student, fitness enthusiast, and baker on the side. Her passion for fitness and wellness shines through the three years she’s served as founder and co-president of Davidson Academy’s very first athletic student organization: The Davidson Academy Running Club. Morgan also feeds her love for baking by taking every opportunity to whip up her famous fudge and chocolate chip cookies for the state officer team and state staff, her fellow chapter members, as well as other peers, mentors, family, and friends she holds dear.

Looking forward, Morgan can’t wait to attend the International Career Development Conference for her third year, where she hopes to surpass her previous top-ten placement to achieve DECA glass! As Morgan rejoins the powerful force of Nevada DECA as State President, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with such an incredible team of fellow state officers. She knows that with their unique skill sets and shared dedication to service, alongside the strength and unity of members and chapters across the state, the scope of success for Nevada DECA this year will be limitless.
