September Advisor Conference & Chapter Officer Academy Recap
The annual Advisor Conference was held at the Harrah’s Hotel and Casino on September 12th with a little twist this year! In addition to the Advisor Conference, the Nevada CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) Chapter Officer Academy was introduced for the first time. With DECA, HOSA, FCCLA, and FBLA officers and advisors in attendance, the two events were very successful!

Led by State Director Curtis Haley, the advisors were introduced to their CTSO program, getting advice on integrating CTSO into their classroom, and competitive events strategies to give to their members. In addition to the chapter strategy and competition, an extraordinary presentation was given by the conference’s keynote speaker and Founder of GiANT Worldwide, Jeremie Kubicek. His dedication to helping the next generation strive and become leaders around the globe inspired the room full of officers and advisors. During the DECA Advisor Conference, the State Officers had the opportunity to introduce their Program of Work as well as the newly developed State Theme and Chapter Campaigns for the year!

Chapter officers from DECA and FBLA participated in the first Annual Nevada Chapter Officer Academy, led by FBLA State Officer Coach and Speaker, Haley Henderson. Officers had the chance to develop a Program of Work, create fun activities, collaborate with their advisor and state officers, and network with leaders in each organization. With the skills developed during the academy, officers would share and bring their Program of Work back to their local board. The DECA and FBLA State Officers also gave a presentation on their own Programs of Work as well as their Chapter Campaigns. Afterwards, chapter officers had the chance to meet with their State Officers and ask any questions they had in mind and connect!

Overall, this year’s Advisor Conference and Chapter Officer Academy were incredible, and we hope that our members will participate in our Chapter Campaigns to make Nevada DECA even more EPIC!
