East CTA Makes MAGIC at Trade Show

This past August, the chapter officers of East CTA DECA had the opportunity to attend MAGIC, a biannual trade show in Las Vegas where "new trends surface and develop into what will be seen on the consumer."

Every winter and summer, more than 5,000 emerging and established brands showcase their designs to tens of thousands of attendees from the international fashion community. MAGIC allows the fashion community to preview trends, create essential business connections, and shop fashion at one of the biggest events in the industry. Averaging close to $200 million in per-day order volume, more business is done at MAGIC than any other fashion retail trade event.

"It was an experience that allowed us to see just how vast the retail community is, helped us witness professionalism and the great amounts of creativity and thought that go into creating everything from a trade show booth to a business card," says Vice President of Publicity Mariana Sarmiento.

Vice President of Membership Sara Meraz says it was a "great opportunity for young marketing students like myself. It gave us a chance to see what real trade shows are like and gave us a taste of the fashion-business world."

The ECTA DECA officers were grateful to attend a major event like MAGIC. For future marketers, business owners, and professionals, it was an exciting and unforgettable experience.
