GO! WRLC Recap 2014

This year’s Western Region Leadership Conference, held in Anaheim, California and hosted by the wonderful California DECA officers as well as Western Region Vice President Kyle Kuo, was a spectacular hit. From the wonderful world of Disney to the motivating and inspiring leadership speakers, Nevada DECA truly made some amazing memories at WRLC 2014.

Nevada DECA took more than 120 members to Anaheim, and the conference was created so each of the members had a unique experience. The Go! Talks, leadership workshops and activities were centered on what the students want to learn about. Speaker Jeff Jordan, who graduated from a Las Vegas high school, is the President and Executive Producer of the Rescue Social Change Group and was one of the incredible speakers who shared thoughts and lessons. Julie Carrier, an Emmy-nominated TV Show Host and NBC Apprentice semi-finalist, talked about women in leadership and following a life of success and happiness. Jason Lucash, a Shark Tank winner and Entrepreneur Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the year, was able to share some insightful advice on his experience in leadership and creating. Lucash also hosted a mini Shark Tank competition within WRLC with the top DECA Garage concept or business winning $2,500 in additional startup capital for their enterprise. Two Nevada DECA members from East CTA even made it to the final round with their invention!

While there was so much information to absorb, members needed a little break too, and what better way to spend conference free time than at DECA Night at Disney? Your officer team and many members headed over to Disneyland for some fun rides and yummy food.

WRLC 2014 was a conference to remember, and your fellow members and state officer team represented Nevada DECA proudly! We hope to see even more of you at WRLC 2015!
