Nevada DECA Donates 400 Stuffed Animals Through Mission Cuddle
What happens when you cross Nevada DECA with bags full of stuffed animals and a desire to help the local community? You get Mission Cuddle, Nevada DECA's 2010-2011 statewide community service project. For the second straight year, the State Officer Team made Mission Cuddle one of their most important projects, organizing and promoting the statewide effort to collect stuffed animals to donate to local children’s hospitals to help comfort sick youth. The State Officers planned the project, selected a hospital, promoted the effort to local chapters, and finally helped collect over 400 stuffed animals at the 2010 State Career Development Conference to be donated to the pediatric wing of Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas.

On March 15, 2011, the 2010-2011 Nevada DECA Vice President of Membership Dafne Vargas met with Stacy Acquista, the Volunteer Services Director for Southern Hills Hospital, to donate all of the stuffed animals collected by Nevada DECA, accompanied by her sister Antares, a member of the 2009-2010 State Officer Team. The hospital staff expressed deep appreciation for the animals, which will provide needed comfort for sick children. Thank you to all of the members and advisors of Nevada DECA for participating in this project – we are excited to work with you in our community even more in the future!
