Nevada DECA Goes to Washington

November 21, 2010 - The Nevada DECA State Officer Team and nearly 70 other Nevada DECA leaders recently returned from a trip to the nation's capitol, Washington D.C., where they attended the Ultimate DECA Power Trip along with nearly 2,500 other state officers and members from across the nation. With inspiring speakers, concentrated leadership itineraries, and a special Epic Start-Up Experience on the National Mall, Nevada saw DECA's power at its best.

The Nevada DECA State Officer Team extended its stay in Washington D.C. in order to head to Capitol Hill to meet with congressional leaders, advocate for DECA and Career and Technical Education, and see government in action. The officers  met with the following staff members of Nevada’s Congressional Delegation:

Mr. Jason Unger, Senior Policy Adviser, Office of the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Ms. Claire Gartland, Legislative Assistant, Office of Congresswoman Shelley Berkley

The state officers were also excited to have the opportunity to meet with Congressman Dean Heller in his office and share with him about DECA. California DECA thanks all of Nevada’s Congressional Delegation for its support of DECA and Career and Technical Education.
