Nevada DECA State Officers Shine at 2013 National ACTE Conference!
On December 4-7, 2013, the National ACTE Convention, CareerTech Vision 2013, was held in Las Vegas. The Nevada DECA State Officers had the amazing opportunity to not only volunteer to support the conference, but also to speak on behalf of DECA students at the Marketing Division meeting.

State President Valerie Caña and Vice President of Southern Nevada Rebecca Live greeted the career and technical educators to the Opening Session of the conference as they gathered with one goal in common: to learn about more CTE opportunities to help their students.
“Students aren’t the only ones who benefit from the advantage of being in a Career and Technical Student Organization,” said Michelle Walker, Director of Education for National DECA. “Teachers become advisors and learn so much from leading their chapter members too.”
Another huge part of the conference was the vast sea of exhibitor booths offered to the educators. From engineering technologies and fundraising opportunities, to STEM projects and CTSOs, attendees were exposed to new, innovative organizations with the common aim to enhance the learning environment of students across the globe. The State OfficerTteam volunteered at the National DECA booth, where they met numerous teachers either interested in starting a chapter or in improving their own chapter.
Vice President of Membership John Moran also had the opportunity to deliver greetings to the Marketing Division Meeting at the conference. During his speech, he was able to share his personal experience of being a part of DECA member with the delegation.
