Southwest CTA Recognized for Outstanding Membership Recruitment
The 2011 International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida was a huge success for many Nevada DECA members, but one local chapter was given special recognition at the conference for amazing membership growth - and with almost 400 members in their chapter, it's easy to understand why!

Southwest Career and Technical Academy, led by chapter advisors Perry Annett and Karin Jones, received an award for being Nevada DECA's largest chapter after their success in membership recruitment during the 2010-2011 year. That accomplishment is even more astounding considering that their DECA chapter has only existed for two years! When the Las Vegas chapter was chartered last year, they finished the membership year with 108 members, but that number turned out to be just a prelude to bigger things to come.
This year, SWCTA almost quadrupled their membership, adding 275 members and ending the year with 383 total members. In addition to winning Nevada DECA's membership campaign award for the largest overall increase in membership at the State Career Development Conference, this incredible growth catapulted SWCTA to be one of the ten largest DECA chapters in the entire country. At the ICDC Leadership Luncheon, four representatives from SWCTA were recognized for their chapter's accomplishment, as well as for being the largest DECA chapter in the state of Nevada. After receiving the award, chapter advisor Perry Annett set the goal of becoming even bigger in 2011-2012 to capture a spot as one of the nation's ten largest chapters.
Nevada DECA congratulates SWCTA on their outstanding membership recruitment successes and looks forward to seeing them become one of DECA's top ten largest chapters next year!
