Sunrise Mountain DECA Recognized As "Summit Level" DECA Week Winner!
After completing a highly successful week of activities in October, Sunrise Mountain DECA was recognized by National DECA this week as receiving the "Summit Level", the highest recognition possible in its DECA Week campaign.
In order to receive the Summit Level in the campaign, chapters had to complete five outreach activities during DECA Week to both its school and its community, as well as chronicle five success stories of its chapter alumni, and submit documentation of all of the activities to National DECA. Out of over 5,000 DECA chapters worldwide, only 70 attained Summit Level recognition, and Sunrise Mountain DECA was the only Nevada chapter to accomplish this feat.
Chapter President Nelly Meza played a critical role in the chapter's accomplishment, helping to coordinate the DECA Week activities and also overseeing the submission of materials. Bruce Gil (Vice President of Publicity) and Catia Villanueva (Vice President of Fundraising) also helped ensure that the week's activities were successful.
As a result of its success, Sunrise Mountain will receive a special plaque during the State Career Development Conference, a chapter profile on the Nevada DECA website, a promotional pennant, a series of DECA posters, and vouchers for complimentary blazer patches featuring the new DECA logo.
Nevada DECA would like to congratulate Sunrise Mountain DECA and its advisor Tristan Hays for its tremendous accomplishment, and for representing Nevada DECA well!
The next opportunity for chapters to gain recognition will be in the Advocacy Month campaign taking place in February - make plans now to be a part of it!
